New work

Hi everyone; I thought I would share my latest work with you. The first piece is along the theme of decay and dereliction; it shows the abandonment and decay of HMSO, Norwich which has stood empty for around 15 years. My nanny worked as the tea lady there several decades ago so it holds a personal connection to me.

The piece is moulded fabric shapes which represent the view from the outside windows. The opaque nature of the fabric prevents you from seeing clearly inside, just as the boarded and covered windows of the actual building. They appear ghostly and slightly rusted and or stained. The sheer fabric also suggests a silence and stillness.

The second piece is a printed quilt that also captures a sense of loss and solitude; although the words are ones of love. The texture, white background and simplicity of the piece gives it a haunting feel.

Yes I have purposely printed one of the letters back to front; this is something I have done in previous work. For those of you who don't know I am mildly dyslexic and this is something personal I occasionally add to my work.
